If you will eat it in the next few days, a bread box works nicely. I also keep bread near the toaster (on the counter). It’s different here in Germany (kind of, but not really) as we get fresh bread from the bakery and slice it ourselves. If we want what we in American call bread (wonder bread or something like that), it’s called Toast Bread here. We keep the “good bread” from the bakery in our bread box, toast bread near the toaster.

When I was younger and living in the states, we would put a loaf in the freezer if we didn’t plan on eatting in for at least a week. But once thawed, it should be eatten in 2-3 days. I’ve never kept bread in the fridge.

bread have a shelf life for about a week in room temperature. consume them during that time will be good.storing in the chiller will do good if consume after a week but if stored in freezer it wil last 3 to 4 months and consume within 4 days after thawing.

We keep ours on the counter, I’m sure it would last longer in the fridge but I can not tolerate cold bread, and it seems to get hard in there.

In the microwave. If I won’t use it all soon, then I keep it in the freezer. I learned a long time ago, never to keep it on top of the fridge. The heat causes the bottom of the loaf to get hard.
